It was a good run, but Springfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Monday. They fell to the Madelia Blackhawks 69-63. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 152nd).

Springfield's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Sturm, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Sturm's third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Bryan Buerkle, who went 8-for-15 to rack up 18 points.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 27-3. As for Madelia, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 26-5.

As of now, neither Springfield nor Madelia have any future games scheduled.
