Football Recap: Taft Takes a Loss

Taft had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it five. They were beaten by the Odem Owls 40-6. The Greyhounds lost against the Owls in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 28-20 score last time.

As for Odem, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Odem had a senior duo take command as John Hinojosa rushed for 271 yards and three TDs and Martin Castillo rushed for 95 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries. Hinojosa is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

Taft has already played their next game, a 43-12 victory against Banquete on the 9th. As for Odem, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 36-12 defeat against George West on the 10th.
