Soccer Game Preview: Nixon vs. Martin

Nixon and Martin are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Nixon Mustangs will head out to face off against the Martin Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nixon is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Nixon's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Mission Veterans Memorial. The Mustangs' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Pedro Zapata was the driving force of Nixon's attack as he scored both of Nixon's goals, bringing his season total up to seven goals.

Meanwhile, Martin hasn't lost a match since January 3rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They and Rio Grande City finished up their game with a 1-1 draw.

Nixon's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those seven matches. Martin's draw makes their record 7-3-3 this season.
