Basketball Recap: Esparto Starts Season with Loss at Home

Esparto unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Buckingham Charter Knights on Wednesday, falling 54-33. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Esparto's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Landon Yanez, who posted 13 points and five rebounds, and Aiden Harden, who earned 12 points and five boards. Andre Orona was another key player, putting up four points.

Esparto has already played their next matchup, a 62-40 defeat against San Juan on the 21st. As for Buckingham Charter, they will challenge Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
