Baseball Recap: Angleton Comes Up Short

If Angleton was riding high fresh off their 6-0 takedown of Ball on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats came up short against the Santa Fe Indians on Friday, falling 7-0. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost nine in a row.

Braxton Beaty put in work no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles.

Beaty wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kade Estrada, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Angleton's record now sits at 11-9-1. As for Santa Fe, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5-3.

Coincidentally, Angleton and Santa Fe will both be playing Iowa Colony the next time they take the field. The Indians will host the Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
