Baseball Preview: Valley Forge Patriots vs. Walsh Jesuit Warriors
The Valley Forge Patriots will head out to challenge the Walsh Jesuit Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley Forge has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 21.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Valley Forge and Rocky River had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Patriots lost 9-2 to the Pirates last Friday.
Meanwhile, Walsh Jesuit had just enough and edged out University School 4-2 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Andrew Przybys looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Walsh Jesuit saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dom Romanini, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two hits gave Romanini a new career-high. Carlos Smith also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Walsh Jesuit's record is now 13-6-1. As for Valley Forge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.
