Basketball Game Preview: Voyager Academy Vikings vs. Apex Cougars

The Voyager Academy Vikings and the Apex Cougars will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Voyager Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.8 points per game this season.

Voyager Academy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Burlington Christian Academy just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. The matchup between them and the Royals didn't end well, with Voyager Academy falling 70-54.

Manny Pullium put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 5 of 8 on his way to 18 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Green, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Apex lost to Southeast Alamance on the road by a 70-53 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 469th, while the Stallions are ranked 49th).

Apex's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Voyager Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Voyager Academy strolled past Apex in their previous matchup back in December of 2015 by a score of 81-65. Does Voyager Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Apex turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
