After only two runs in their last match, Houston Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Fort Worth Country Day on Saturday. The Mustangs never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Millie Metz was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April.
In other batting news, Houston Christian got a massive performance out of Lily Herveat, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Herveat has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emmy Koehler, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Houston Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Houston Christian's win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Fort Worth Country Day, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-7.
