Basketball Recap: Avon Takes a Loss

Avon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 56-16 defeat at the hands of the Wareham Vikings. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-4.

When it comes to explaining why Avon lost, don't look at Janelis Rivera Rodgriguez. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Rivera Rodgriguez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Pierre-Louis, who put up no points and six boards.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Wareham, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Avon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-21 defeat against Calvary Chapel Academy on the 17th. Wareham has also already played their next match (against Monomoy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
