Basketball Game Preview: Crisp County Cougars vs. Schley County Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Crisp County Cougars challenge the Schley County Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Monday... The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Crisp County has three straight victories, Schley County has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

While Crisp County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Lanier County 53-31 on Saturday. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Crisp County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zakariyya Dwight, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Dwight is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 13 games he's played dating back to last season. Jaylon Cooper was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine steals.

Meanwhile, Schley County might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Randolph-Clay an easy 66-41 victory. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Schley County's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Crisp County, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
