Softball Recap: Steinbrenner Takes Down Palm Harbor University in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Steinbrenner had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes 4-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won three contests in a row.

Lilly Patton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jenna Fortenberry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Bergen, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Steinbrenner's win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Palm Harbor University, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 20-7.

Looking ahead, Steinbrenner will head out on the road to take on Parrish Community at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 2.5, the Bulls 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Palm Harbor University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
