Softball Recap: Clever Extends Winning Streak to Four

Clever waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Marionville Comets as they made off with a 13-7 victory. The Blue Jays have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Comets, too.

Ava Mittag made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. Mittag was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, Izabel Hudak was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Piper Steele was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Clever hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.

Clever's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Marionville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

Looking ahead, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Clever Blue Jays take on Fair Grove Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clever will need to watch out since Fair Grove has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Marionville, they will square off against Pleasant Hope at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
