Volleyball Game Preview: Shiprock Chieftains vs. Bernalillo Spartans

The Shiprock Chieftains will square off against the Bernalillo Spartans at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Thursday, Shiprock came up short against Taos and fell 3-1. The Chieftains have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Shiprock started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-11, 25-16, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Bernalillo came up short against Belen last Thursday, falling 3-0.

Bernalillo took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-22.

Shiprock now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Bernalillo, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
