Basketball Game Preview: Westover Patriots vs. Northwest Whitfield Bruins

The Westover Patriots will face off against the Northwest Whitfield Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Westover was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Peach County on Friday. Westover blew past Peach County 62-37. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Trojans are ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bryson Carter and Greg Williams were among the main playmakers for Westover as the former went 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists and the latter went 6-for-12 on his way to 13 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Carter a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Reese, who went 5-for-10 en route to 10 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northwest Whitfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 51-41 win over LaFayette on Saturday. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Ramblers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Northwest Whitfield pushed their record up to 19-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points over those games. As for Westover, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
