Basketball Recap: Gretna Starts Season with Win at Home

Gretna took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 58-47 victory over the Elkhorn Antlers. That's more bragging rights for the Dragons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Elkhorn still got an impressive performance from Jake Petersen, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Petersen a new career-high in points. Gus Schultz was another key player, putting up eight points.

Gretna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-40 win against Douglas County West on the 6th. As for Elkhorn, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-52 victory against Waverly on the 7th.
