Recap: Tri-Central Trojans vs. Eastern Comets
The Tri-Central Trojans waltzed into Friday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 83-73 victory over Eastern. Given Tri-Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Eastern is ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tri-Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stetson Newcom led the charge by scoring 19 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. The contest was Newcom's third in a row with at least ten points. Trenton Patz was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Tri-Central's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Eastern, the last time they won on the road was back last Saturday. Having now lost three straight away contests, they've bumped their record down to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Central will take on Morristown at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Morristown comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Eastern's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southwood at 7:45 p.m. on December 9th.
