Football Recap: Tyler Knights vs. Doddridge County Bulldogs
After flying high against St. Marys last Friday, Tyler came back down to earth. The Tyler Knights and the Doddridge County Bulldogs were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Tyler Knights suffered a 21-20 loss. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Doddridge County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brycen Eidel out in front who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Eidel has become a key player for Doddridge County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Jerod Trent did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 125 receiving yards.
Tyler's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Doddridge County, their record now sits at 8-2.
Tyler will head out to face off against Sherman at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sherman is coming into the game with five straight victories at home, so Tyler will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Doddridge County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
