Softball Recap: Delasalle Drops Highest Score of Season Against Minneapolis Southwest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DeLaSalle). They had just enough and edged out the Minneapolis Southwest Lakers 16-15 on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Islanders in their matchups with the Lakers: they've now won six in a row.

The team relied heavily on Taylor Starks, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maiya Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: DeLaSalle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win got DeLaSalle back to even at 4-4-1. As for Minneapolis Southwest, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, DeLaSalle and Minneapolis Southwest will both be playing Academy of Holy Angels the next time they take the field. The Lakers will host the Stars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Islanders will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
