Softball Recap: West Bladen Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Brunswick, West Bladen was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the South Columbus Stallions by a score of 7-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 10, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Allison Hickman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Natalee Sykes was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Marlene Crabtree was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

West Bladen's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for South Columbus, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.

Coming up, West Bladen will square off against South Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on March 19th. As for South Columbus, they will take on East Bladen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give South Columbus their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
