Football Recap: St. Helena Starts Season with Victory at Home + How To Watch

St. Helena gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Fortuna Huskies by a score of 28-18.

Jhony Covarrubias had a dynamite game, rushing for 78 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 144 yards and one touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (94 yards to be exact) went to Dean Sommer.

St. Helena didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Adam Herdell and Latif Basile.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Helena will square off against Justin-Siena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fortuna, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ukiah at 7:00 p.m. on the 13th.
