Baseball Recap: Rossville Beats Clinton Prairie for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Rossville entered their tilt with Clinton Prairie on Wednesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Gophers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

AJ Kelley made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Kelley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Levi Darnell was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Rossville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton Prairie, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 14-5 record.

Rossville and Clinton Prairie should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Hornets (ranked 41st) will meet North Montgomery (ranked 126th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Clinton Prairie will challenge Tri-Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (101 vs. 305).
