Volleyball Recap: Addison Sponaugle Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat West Central

Knox posted their closest win since August 17, 2024 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the West Central Trojans 2-1. This was payback for the Redskins, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Knox's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Sponaugle, who had 16 digs and two aces. Those 16 digs gave Sponaugle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Bullington, who had eight digs and five aces.

They weren't the only good server: Knox was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 14 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Knox now has a winning record of 2-1. As for West Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Knox will head out to challenge South Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Central, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Tri-Township at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
