Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Oak Park

Oak Park won the last time they faced Nordhoff and things went their way on Thursday too. The Eagles never let the Rangers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Oak Park got a great performance from Elle Samuels as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Samuels has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Arika Innis and Julia Katz did most of the damage at the plate: Innis went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs, while Katz went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Those two runs gave Innis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sailor Platt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Oak Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive contests.

Oak Park's record is now 10-7. As for Nordhoff, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Park will host Fillmore at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Flashes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.46 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Nordhoff, they will be playing at home against Channel Islands at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
