Recap: Spoto Spartans vs. Sickles Gryphons
It was a good run, but the Spoto Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-32 walloping at the hands of Sickles. Spoto was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-10.
Leading Sickles to victory were Beckham Hockley and Kelsey Sharpe. Hockley scored 17 points, while Sharpe almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, ten assists, and nine steals. Hockley hasn't dropped below 15points for 13 straight games. Rye'keriyah Newton was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Spoto's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Sickles, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spoto will take on Gaither at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sickles, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Strawberry Crest at 7:00 p.m. Strawberry Crest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 421st, while Sickles is ranked 75th).
