Basketball Game Preview: Sargent Farmers vs. Ignacio Bobcats

Sargent is 0-7 against Ignacio since January of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Sargent Farmers will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Ignacio Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

Sargent is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 63-36 win over Creede. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Sargent got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lucas Garcia out in front who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Garcia a new career-high in steals. Fernando Venzor was another key player, going 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points.

Sargent was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Creede only racked up seven assists.

While Ignacio didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed by Dove Creek to the tune of 67-39 on Saturday. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 26 points or more this season.

Ignacio's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 44 points. As for Sargent, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Sargent ended up a good deal behind Ignacio in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 64-48. Thankfully for Sargent, Gabe Cox (who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
