Baseball Game Preview: Batesburg-Leesville Panthers vs. Clinton Red Devils

The Batesburg-Leesville Panthers will face off against the Clinton Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Batesburg-Leesville 2.6, Clinton 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Batesburg-Leesville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They beat Liberty by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Clinton entered their tilt with Chesnee on Wednesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Eagles.

Batesburg-Leesville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Clinton, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Batesburg-Leesville couldn't quite finish off Clinton in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 and fell 12-10. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
