The Maryvale Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Westwood Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Maryvale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Two weeks ago, Maryvale didn't have quite enough to beat Independence and fell 4-3.

Isabel Hernandez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Hernandez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Ramos, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Another was Ivette Hernandez Mojica, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Westwood came up short against Mountain View on Tuesday, falling 10-2. The Warriors have struggled against the Toros recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meetings.

Westwood now has a losing record of 5-6-1. As for Maryvale, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 4-2.

Maryvale suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Westwood in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Can Maryvale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
