Basketball Recap: Keystone Takes a Loss

After flying high against Clearview last Wednesday, Keystone came back down to earth. The Keystone Wildcats were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 51-50 to the Columbia Raiders. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 51-38.

Columbia was led to victory by Kaitlyn Miller and Bree Heidecker. Miller went 11 for 24 on her way to 21 points and three steals, while Heidecker made all 6 shots she took racking up 13 points. That's the most points Miller has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Goebel, who posted six points and six boards.

Keystone's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 18-2. As for Columbia, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Keystone has already played their next matchup (against Firelands), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Columbia will be playing in front of their home fans against Clearview at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Columbia is facing Clearview at the right time seeing as Clearview is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
