Recap: Thornwell Saints vs. Whitmire Wolverines
This season hasn't been kind to the Thornwell Saints, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They were outmatched by Whitmire at home and fell 41-12.
Whitmire's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raylin Vicars led the charge by scoring nine points along with seven steals. Vicars hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Trystan Samples, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Thornwell's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-5. More embarrasing are the teams that make up that slump in performance: Whitmire, Calhoun Falls Charter, and Ware Shoals. As for Whitmire, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-13.
Thornwell and Ware Shoals will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Ware Shoals focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Wednesday. As for Whitmire, Whitmire and Calhoun Falls Charter will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Calhoun Falls Charter is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
