Basketball Recap: Sharyland Piles Up the Points Against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Sharyland's strategy against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Sharyland Rattlers blew the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas out of the water with a 64-13 final score. The game marked the Rattlers' most dominant win of the season.

Sharyland found their leader in freshman Alyssa Ramirez, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points. Ramirez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Jayleen Berlanga was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Sharyland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January.

Sharyland's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Sharyland and Pioneer will compete for holiday cheer at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Pioneer will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Sharyland surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they will head out to square off against Rowe at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
