Softball Game Preview: Central Linn Cobras vs. Santiam Wolverines

For the second straight game, Central Linn will face off against Santiam. The Cobras will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. Central Linn has given up an average of 17.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Central Linn lost 17-2 to Santiam on Thursday. The Cobras haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

For Santiam's part, Boston Flores made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Flores has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Brooke Massey was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Haylie Cole was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

The victory (which was Santiam's third in a row) raised their record to 10-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Central Linn, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
