Softball Recap: Jefferson Cougars vs. St. Albans Red Dragons
Jefferson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the St. Albans Red Dragons 6-5. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory the Red Dragons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.
Becca Munslow made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Munslow was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.
In other batting news, Graclyn Dodson was excellent, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ainsley Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Jefferson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for St. Albans, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.
Jefferson has already played their next match, a 5-1 victory against University on the 31st. St. Albans does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
