West saw some tournament action on Monday. They came up short against the Caruthers Blue Raiders, falling 14-3.

Cris Melendez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.

West has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Caruthers, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11.

West didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-8 loss against South on the 15th. As for Caruthers, they have also already played their next game, a 9-1 defeat against Exeter on the 15th.
