Volleyball Recap: Belmont Comes Up Short

Belmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Mendez Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-10, 25-13.

Mendez got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luna Rubio out in front who had 25 digs. Rubio has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Fatima Estrada, who had 22 assists.

Belmont's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Mendez, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.

Coming up, Belmont will head out on the road to challenge Roybal at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mendez, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Hollywood on the 8th.
