Volleyball Recap: Cheyenne Mountain Falls Short Against Ranked Niwot

Cheyenne Mountain faced Niwot in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Red-Tailed Hawks fell 3-1 to the Cougars. It was the first time this season that the Red-Tailed Hawks let down their fans at home.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-18, 17-25, 25-17.

Aiden Eslinger paced Cheyenne Mountain's offense, picking up 12 kills. Eslinger got some help from Ari Martin and his 28 assists. Gabe Salcido controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Cheyenne Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Niwot, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Cheyenne Mountain will venture away from home to take on Rampart at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Niwot, they will welcome Poudre at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Impalas will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
