Softball Recap: Northtown's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Northtown won against Christ the King on Monday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Pumas blew past the Holy Trinity Tigers 17-3. With that victory, the Pumas brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Anastasia Valenzuela made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Valenzuela was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Genesis Collazo was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Leilani Mejia was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Northtown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Northtown's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Holy Trinity, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Northtown will challenge Our Lady of Tepeyac at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pumas are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Holy Trinity, they will square off against Cristo Rey Jesuit at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
