Softball Game Preview: Altavista Colonels vs. William Campbell Generals

For the first time this season, Altavista will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the William Campbell Generals at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Monday, Altavista came up short against Rustburg and fell 7-4. The Colonels have struggled against the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, William Campbell came up short against Brookville on Wednesday, falling 15-4.

Arnesia Dews made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.

William Campbell's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Altavista, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Altavista was able to grind out a solid victory over William Campbell in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 9-6. Will Altavista repeat their success, or does William Campbell has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
