Softball Recap: Nevada Union Sets Scoring Season-High Against Del Campo

Nevada Union had lost seven games at home dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 3-13-1 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 13-10 win over the Del Campo Cougars. The Miners' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jessica Rivenes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 6.1 innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cheyanne Painter was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Riebe, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Nevada Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

As for Del Campo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. Even if they couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

On Del Campo's side, Alisha Taylor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Issabella Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
