The Fairland Dragons will take on the Russell Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairland is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Fairland came up short against Valley on Saturday, falling 20-3.
Fairland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Fleming, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Another was Cole Brown, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Russell). They never let Expression Prep Academy get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Saturday. Considering the Red Devils have won four games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jayden Frasure made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Russell got a massive performance out of Dawson Wada, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Wada is becoming a predictor of the Red Devils' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Grayson Kiser was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Russell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The win made it two in a row for Russell and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Fairland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Fairland was able to grind out a solid win over Russell in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 9-6. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
