The Clear Fork Colts will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Fredericktown Freddies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fredericktown took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Clear Fork, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Clear Fork made easy work of Highland and carried off a 40-20 win. Given Clear Fork's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Highland is ranked 493rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Fredericktown had to settle for a 45-43 loss against Mt. Gilead on Wednesday. Fredericktown has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Fredericktown got a solid performance out of Cally Carpenter, who scored 21 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. The game was Carpenter's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mya Bryant, who scored ten points.

Even though they lost, Fredericktown were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Gilead only racked up six assists.

Clear Fork's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Fredericktown, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Clear Fork didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Fredericktown when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 61-56 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clear Fork since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
