League recap: Sutter runs winning streak to 15

Butte View league recap: 5/7/12

Sutter (18-2, 11-1) is red-hot, having won 15 straight games, the longest such streak in Butte View. Three of those wins came in the past week, includinga 15-4 victory over Lincoln.

After a week in which it went 3-0, Wheatland jumped from 593 to 542 in the national rankings, the biggest increase in the league.

Winters's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only five hits and three walks, both of which led the league. On the season, the Warriors have allowed just 114 hits, while striking out 117 batters. Austin Calvert leads the Warriors with 61 strikeouts in 53 innings.

Gridley sprayed a league-best 138 hits this week, but still trails Sutter, which holds the season lead in base knocks with 217. Trevor Anthony has a team-best 38 hits this year, and the Bulldogs went 0-2 this week.

Anthony led the league with 28 hits this week for Gridley. On the season, he's hitting .535 and ranks first in the league with 38 hits.
