Baseball Recap: Lane Tech Takes a Loss

Lane Tech fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Maine South on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 5-4. The Champions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Dodger Friedrich was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Henry Murray and Teo Greco stepped up to the plate in a big way. Murray got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Greco went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Lane Tech's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Maine South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lane Tech will take on Amundsen at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maine South, they will square off against Deerfield at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
