Baseball Recap: Wilson Triumphs

Wilson had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Johnsburg Central Jaguars 2-1 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lakemen have posted since April 8, 2025.

Luke Howard was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Howard was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cam Bryer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Johnsburg Central now has a losing record of 1-2.

Wilson will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Barker at 4:45 p.m. on the 13th. As for Johnsburg Central, they have already played their next matchup, a 17-5 victory against Sauquoit Valley on the 1st.
