Football Recap: Athens Academy Piles Up the Points Against Banks County + How To Watch

Athens Academy never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-0 win over the Banks County Leopards. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won five contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

A big part of Athens Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Chap Chapman and his top target Keyon Standifer. Chapman threw for 141 yards and one TD while completing 88.9% of his passes while Standifer picked up 48 receiving yards and one touchdown. What's more, Chapman racked up 165.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024.

Athens Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 378 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Athens Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Banks County, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Athens Academy will take on Providence Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will be up against the Storm's rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Banks County, they will host Elbert County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Leopards surely won't give up without a fight.
