Basketball Recap: Laylah Dawkins Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Treasure Coast

Lincoln Park Academy won the last time they faced Treasure Coast and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds were the clear victor by a 61-35 margin over the Treasure Coast Titans. The Greyhounds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Lincoln Park Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Laylah Dawkins out in front who went 5 for 8 on her way to 15 points along with six assists and four steals. Dawkins has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Juliana Ball was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 15 points.

Lincoln Park Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Treasure Coast's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reniah Flynn, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Treasure Coast is 4-2 when Flynn posts eight or more rebounds, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Justice Alexis, who posted nine points.

Lincoln Park Academy's record now sits at 18-2. As for Treasure Coast, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Jensen Beach the next time they take the court. Treasure Coast will head out to face Jensen Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Lincoln Park Academy will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
