Baseball Game Preview: Genoa-Kingston Cogs vs. Belvidere Bucs

The Genoa-Kingston Cogs will square off against the Belvidere Bucs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Genoa-Kingston and 11 for Belvidere.

Genoa-Kingston came up short against Rock Falls on Thursday, falling 15-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cogs have suffered against the Rockets since May 16, 2019.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Belvidere's offense. They fell just short of Guilford by a score of 2-0 on Friday.

Belvidere saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gio Urbietta, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Belvidere's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Genoa-Kingston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Everything went Genoa-Kingston's way against Belvidere when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Genoa-Kingston made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
