Recap: Rudder Rangers vs. Randle Lions
The Rudder Rangers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 43-24 fall against Randle. While losing is never fun, Rudder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 430th, while Randle is ranked 123rd).
Rudder's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaquise Martin, who picked up 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Martin's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bruce Hendrick, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Randle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landen Callis-Williams led the charge by rushing for 148 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Tyler Skrabanek was another key contributor, throwing for 331 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Randle, racking up 13 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Christian Munguia: he added nine points with three field goals, and another four kicking extra points.
Rudder's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Randle, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Rudder will head out on the road to face off against Montgomery at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Montgomery is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Randle will take on Huntsville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
