Football Game Preview: St. Mary's South Side Dragons vs. Lutheran North Crusaders

An exciting North v. South battle is about to be fought. The St. Mary's South Side Dragons will take on the Lutheran North Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

St. Mary's South Side is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Jennings with points to spare, taking the game 40-24. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Dragons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Warriors are ranked 151st).

Kingston Miles had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 178 yards while picking up 9.9 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, Lutheran North never let their opponents score on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gateway Tech 34-0. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Lutheran North and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 points in those games. As for St. Mary's South Side, their record is now 7-3.

St. Mary's South Side took a serious blow against Lutheran North in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, falling 44-12. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
