Basketball Recap: Highland Park Falls Despite Big Games from Ciara Hartz and Pearmella Carter

Highland Park has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Blue Valley Tigers on the road by a 56-41 margin on Friday. The contest marked the Scots' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Pearmella Carter and Ciara Hartz certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Carter dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Hartz almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals. The game was Carter's ninth in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Highland Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Highland Park's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Blue Valley, they moved to 3-8 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Highland Park didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-39 win against Lawrence Free State on the 1st. Blue Valley has also already played their next game, a 58-33 victory against Shawnee Mission West on the 1st.
