Baseball Game Preview: Methacton Warriors vs. Pope John Paul II

The Methacton Warriors will head out on the road to challenge Pope John Paul II at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Methacton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Pope John Paul II's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Methacton didn't have quite enough to beat Upper Merion Area and fell 2-1. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pope John Paul II). Everything went their way against Cardinal O'Hara on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-8 victory. Pope John Paul II might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on AJ Diaddezio, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Mishock, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pope John Paul II kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Methacton's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Pope John Paul II, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
